    Am I the only one worried about all the artist names assigned to the continuation of the main SF story comics? I get the impression that it might feel like a patchwork of short stories, while the charm of most of the comics has been how mostly seamlessly they've weaced several plotlines together while staying true to the source. I'm mostly curious to see how/if they handle Juri's integration in shadaloo, considering her backstory with Bison - they're both characters I don't care that much about, but that's an interest moment of the canon I want to see...

    Can anyone make out all the figures in that Gouki special illustration? I can make out Gouken and Goutetsu, the kid in the middle is probably a younger Gouki, Retsu seems to be to the right, the one behind him might be a younger Gen, but the identity of the others to the left isn't too clear.

    Speaking of Udon, anyone got the ComicCon MvC book? I'd like to know if that covers things like Anita's playable self in home versions of MSH and Versus series "original" characters like Shadow and to what extent - stuff on just about every other character you can find elsewhere, so I'm curious how they handled the "original generation" (and while at it, the rumored Darkstalkers roots of Ruby Heart and Amingo).

    As an aside, I'm getting more and more worried about the ShiftyLook stuff... recent "grievances":

    - the classic Valkyrie stories are about a warrior sent from the heavens and a guy called K(u)rino (who's a part of a tribe of green humanoids known as sandras) who even has a wife and a kid (both of which were a major plot point in his own game, known in the west as Whirlo) - the comic version seems to ignore the former so far (which is less of an issue if the comic ends up being about her earning her divine warrior status or something); there's a "prince Krino" in the comic, and I get the feeling that the green character with that name in the games will be treated like some cursed form; also, a new original villain for the comic - at least none that's mentioned in the best source I've seen on that series: http://www.devimension.com/dvp_doc_database/dev_docu000.html It's just mildly annoying to see major changes like these when the authors claim to be fans of the source material - they might as well be honest mention what they do know about the games, little as it may be;

    - Wonder Momo has one human antagonist in her entire game that fight her directly, Amazona, who looks fairly distinct and was actually pictured in a screenshot of the game's manual in a blog post - in the comic she's blonde and her suit looks even more different. Is the artist that unsure of being able to draw both characters differently?... Truth be told, it's a bit unnerving that all the blog posts with info are written by Erik Ko, who in the process gets to gush about tokusatsu and how it inspired the Wonder Momo game and should affect the comic, but the actual script is by Jim Zub who seems to ignore a lot of source info that's there;

    - Jim Zub will be scripting a Klonoa comic - what he wrote about it so far reads like something from someone who skimmed the Wikipedia article on the series - which wouldn't be an issue if he didn't claim to be a fan. I'm not familiar with the series myself, but you'd figure a writer would be familar with the concept of "show, don't tell", to back up the claim with something resembling a memory or impression of the games. As I said above, might as well at least mention some game he feels may work as a good focal piont to the story, that would at least show signs of research.

    Issues with series like these just annoy me since some get referenced often in Namco games that barely reach these shores, so this isn't really helping, when ShiftyLook's stated intent is to promote these Namco IPs - stuff like Project X Zone getting localized just feels more distant as these tendencies keep getting reinforced...

    Yeah it seems like there will be some original characters in the Akuma GN.

    You might want to ask about the MvC art book in the convention thread since some people who post there managed to grab it at SDCC.

    There's a chart at the end of the book that has mini profiles showing each character and what games they're playable in. Some of the "secret characters" are left with only a list of names instead of actual pictures and sprites. I think we only get as far as a sprite pic for shadow and anita. It's kinda sad, I was hoping for more pics from secret characters like Mecha Zangief (http://images.wikia.com/streetfighter/images/8/80/Zangief2_mvc.jpg) or Norimoro in there too (http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/2986/488122-norimaro_large.gif, since i'm a fiend for anything bengus related) but I guess it stems from the fact that this was an UDON exclusive and japan had nothing to do with it (from what they said at the UDON panel anyway).

    For amingo you do get some early concept art which is interesting, along with some sprite work, but nothing too detailed. The same goes for ruby heart, you get early concept sketches of her and the henchman though its really small to make out.

    There's still alot missing from the book, but they do manage to get some other surprises in there as well. Some things you may have forgotten about, like the full MSH cover by Joe Mad (though black and white. It was a funny story in the panel, it was actually a xerox from an inker they had to search out for since the original couldn't be found.), some early Punisher videogame artwork, Some Akiman x-men/msh artwork, bengus Onslaught pics that i've never seen and some unreleased Udon pieces as well.

    Would've been nice to see some more interviews from Bengus, but you do get to see some of it in the process of concepts. Also would've been cool to see shinkiro process in doing those MVC 3 covers, but at least we get the covers. Overall, I still think it was still a good idea to have a book like this (i've been wanting this book longer than I have for the games themselves). All pictures are similar in size to what we got in SF 20. We don't get alot of single games like MSH, or X-Men Children of the atom but only the VS series which starts from XVSF and so on. Though not as complete as SF 20, its still a great companion piece. I got the hardcover for reasons that I just had to have it, but if you're looking for something to just add to your collection then waiting for the softcover is still worth the wait.

    Don't know if it's been mentioned already, but Udon is putting the Street Fighter comic online. No idea when it updates, but looks like it's just one page at a time.

    The Emerald Spears (like Ruby Spears, get it LOL) story wrapped in Mega Man today. I really enjoyed this one even if the artwork was hit or miss at times. Quake Woman is a nice addition. Now bring on Proto Man! 8-)

    I just got the book Friday and pretty much agree with everything you said. It's a really good book!

    With regards to X-Men Children of the Atom and MSH, I don't think there was a lot of original artwork in the first place. Capcom did two pieces for cover art purposes and then they straight up lifted drawings and images from Marvel comic books for their in-game character portraits. A lot of the endings in MSH they took existing Marvel comic book artwork and tweaked some of the images.

    For what it's worth all of the above images are available in All About Capcom though, but this book doesn't really feature much in the way of endings anyway. It's nice that you get all of the images from the US ending of MvC2 and the Japanese version. Previously in AAC they only showed the Japanese images.

    For what it's worth in Jean Grey's bio she is called Jean Grey-Summers. That's the first time I've seen that, everywhere else she is just called Jean Grey. I honestly could not tell if Jean Grey in UMvC3 was married to Scott / Cyclops or not. Jean's currently dead in Marvel comics. If she ever does come back to life (not looking like that's happening any time soon) I can almost bet they'll divorce them due to 'death do us part' and all soap opera style.

    Of course the whole marriage issue in UMvC3 is confusing anyway. Chris Baker of Marvel confirmed that Spider-Man is still married to MJ in the game, yet there is no in game evidence of this except for one quote where Spidey says he's late and MJ will kill him. Storm is OBVIOUSLY married to Black Panther but in hind sight not much point to that since Marvel just divorced them in ONE PANEL. :rofl: Hawkeye is still married to Mockingbird in the game, no idea why since they also got a 'death do us part' divorce and in the cartoons and movies Hawkeye is single nowadays anyway.

    I don't know, strange strange Capcom, and I guess since Marvel had more influence this time strange strange Marvel. At least it's not as strange as putting Shuma-Gorath in so many games. :looney:

    Sorry about going a little OT lol! Overall it's a great book. It doesn't answer a lot of questions like why the hell did they decide to use Shuma-Gorath and it doesn't point out that Rubyheart, Sonson and Amingo were originally intended for a Darkstalkers sequel. Norimaro and Abyss are mentioned but no bios for either, so we still don't know much of anything about Abyss. I'm not even sure if there is any original artwork available for X-Men Mutant Acopalypse and the MSH side scroller but it would've been nice if some of it was included, at least sprite artwork if any of it still exists. The Punisher artwork shows up in at least two older Capcom of Japan artbooks so not that hard to track down.

    Still it's really nice and there are quite a few pieces I have never seen before. Like CHOWZ said, I'd definitely like more and wished it had some of the detail featured in previous Capcom Official Complete Works book. Even so, for artwork viewing purposes it's a must-have.

    Yeah, I really need to get that All About Capcom book, My cousin had it, and I think that's the only one i'm missing. I was hoping udon would get to rerelease some of these old books, such as CAPCOM DESIGNS, but that might be a little outdated by now. I just always wanted to see those interviews and notes finally translated! Also, my japanese version is falling apart. I just have this gut feeling (similar to the MVC book) that they're going to be making a CAPCOM DESIGNS 2 for this generation somewhere down the line.

    Right now, i can't wait to get this

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/1926778510?tag=udoent-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1926778510&adid=0G0XGNBA8JD87X9GJMP6&&ref-refURL=http://www.udonentertainment.com/blog/buy-udon-books/

    Been waiting on this one. I keep flipping through the japanese version at j-town stores, but that 80 dollar pricetag is just way too much for a book. 25 seems like a great deal.

    Also, speaking of Capcom Designs. I found this pic of 80's cartoons recently.

    Ha ha ha that image is win lol!

    I flipped though the Japanese SFxT book in store too, but holding out for Udon's English version. My favorite part is the bad box art Mega Man design sketches. For some reason it tickles me that anyone put that much thought into that design. :D

    Street Fighter x Tekken Artworks SC hits comic book stores next week! 8-)

    Mentioned in the Marvel thread and it's probably been on SRK's Home Page by now but just in case anyone hasn't seen this yet. Ron Lim did this awesome drawing for Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, for a kind of 'what if the Marvel and Capcom universes were always merged together' image. Really cool!

    Like I always say, I only go by comic book store dates (accurate, when it says the comic book store will have it a week in advance it's a slam dunk) and not Amazon / Barnes & Noble book store dates (all kinds of messed up). As usual my apologies to those people who don't live near comic book stores but I wish they had an accurate system, it's hit or miss sometimes and their dates are not always the same as comic book store dates. They receive stuff at different times for some reason.

    Amazon gets it like a couple weeks later after the comic book shops.

    I did check Udon's website and Midtown for an actual release date since I don't think previewsworld has it listed?

    Busy ATM, but check the weekly release date 9/19/12 and scroll down to art books. It should be there. It should also turn up in a search but just in case. If you need help or a link let me know.

    EDIT: Lol never mind I think I understand what you meant. Previews is another case altogether! The book is in comic book stores right now and that's all I can confirm. Everyone else get your act together!

    Spider-Man > Harry Potter. For reals! :rofl:

    Lol thanks!

    That book's been coming for a loooong time. You won't hear jack from me until a week prior like always.

    That Mega Man Robot Master Field Guide isn't out either like that chart says. Not in comic book stores at least. I vaguely remember Udon talking about why it was so late a few months back so it's possible that it's not out anywhere.

    It seems that Udon will have a panel discussion on Friday at New York Comic Con, but they won't be exhibiting so no tables to buy stuff or sketches.

    I'll do my best to attend the panel and discuss whatever I hear over at the sticky convention thread.

    Oh and BTW, the Mega Man comic was amazing this week. Loved Proto Man's origin story. :D
